Frequently Asked Questions

You altered my friend’s gown, and she recommended you; how do I book an appointment with you?

It is a sincere pleasure to receive referrals from cherished past clients! Upon submitting your inquiry form along with photographs, I will promptly provide you with a link to schedule an appointment, contingent upon the confirmation of availability for your wedding date and specific alteration requirements. Your journey to an exquisite fit starts here, and I am thrilled to assist you every step of the way.

What should I bring with me to my fitting appointment?

At each fitting, it is essential to bring your shoes and any undergarments you plan to wear on your wedding day, including shapewear, bras, hosiery, and tape. These items are crucial in determining the precise fit of your gown. Please note that if these items are not available, I will be unable to commence alterations, and a new appointment will need to be scheduled. Kindly refer to the pricing list for details regarding the rescheduling fee.

Where are you located?

My home studio is located in the heart of beautiful Salt Lake City. Upon signing the contract and paying the fitting fee, brides who have confirmed their booking will receive a warm welcome email containing the details of my studio’s physical address. This ensures a personalized experience as we embark on the journey of transforming the gown of your dreams into reality.

Can my children/maid of honor/mother come with me?

Since the Bespoke Bridal Alterations sewing studio is located within my private residence, I kindly request that children and pets do not accompany you during your fittings. However, for your final fitting, you are welcome to bring one adult guest. This individual will have the opportunity to learn how to bustle your gown for the wedding day. Ideally, this guest should be a family member, a close friend, or a trusted member of your bridal party, ensuring they can assist you seamlessly on your special day. Thank you for your understanding in creating a focused and personalized fitting experience.

I see that you require payment in full upfront. Are there exceptions to this?

There are no exceptions to this policy. Full payment is due after the consultation, at which time I can provide my best estimate of the work needed to achieve the look you desire for your gown. Quality materials require greater investments, and more complex designs necessitate skilled labor. Much of the work involved in alterations is akin to that of construction; often, there are hidden aspects that become apparent only once the gown is opened. Consequently, I may discover that additional work is necessary.

I will ensure to communicate with you at every stage of the process, allowing you to maintain control over the alterations. You will always have the final say on whether to proceed with all or some of the suggested modifications before I begin the work on your gown.

Accepted forms of payment include credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, and cash. Please note that payments made via app cards incur a 2.5% processing fee. Both state and federal taxes apply at a rate of 7.5%.

My wedding is in two weeks, can you help me?!

Due to high demand, my schedule fills quickly, typically a year and beyond in advance. As such, rush services are exceptionally limited and will incur an additional fee depending on the urgency and complexity of the alterations required. For this reason, I highly recommend securing your appointment as soon as you have confirmed your wedding date and, ideally, immediately after purchasing your wedding dress. While it is rarely too early to engage a seamstress, I must emphasize that there are instances when it can unfortunately be too late. Should I be unavailable, I am more than happy to recommend esteemed colleagues within the local bridal industry who can assist you.

Do you also do alterations for MOBs/Bridesmaids/Grooms?

As a bridal alterations seamstress, my sole focus is on the artistry of wedding gowns. This commitment allows me to provide unparalleled attention to detail and craftsmanship for each bride, ensuring that her vision is brought to life with elegance and sophistication. For those seeking alterations beyond bridal wear, I am pleased to offer a curated list of nearby preferred providers who specialize in various alteration needs. Please feel free to request this information to find the right service for your specific requirements.

Is cleaning included? Do you offer gown preservation?

Cleaning a wedding gown is a specialized service at an additional fee due to the meticulous nature of the process. Each fabric requires careful attention, for which I utilize Retro Clean, a gentle solution designed to effectively remove yellow and brown age stains from washable materials. It is essential to note that I do not provide dry cleaning services; therefore, gowns with extensive staining cannot be accommodated.

Gown preservation is not offered at my studio at this time. However, I am pleased to recommend a trusted local colleague who can assist with this important service. Your gown deserves the utmost care and expertise, and I am here to ensure it receives just that.
